Growing in Unity 2025 – Day 2

Let’s go back to the wedding day for today’s card. I knew I wanted to use Unity’s Stitched Up Heart die set. (I don’t see this die set on the website so my guess is that it has been retired.) I cut out the largest heart and then stamped the beautiful bride and groom image from Unity’s “A Day to Treasure” stamp set. I used VersaFine Clair pigment ink in “Morning Mist” to stamp the image. I found that I love the softer grey rather than a start black for the images I chose for this week.

I colored our lovely bride and groom using Prismacolor Pencils. For the skin I used Kit and Clowder’s color combination of Sienna Brown, Burnt Orche, Clay Rose, Light Peach, Eggshell, and White. Our bride’s hair is Sand with Sienna Brown highlights. Our groom’s hair is Sienna Brown with some Sand tossed in. Our bride is holding a bouquet of Process Red roses with Grass Green greenery. The flowers in her hair are also Process Red.

As I was coloring and pondering how I was going to put this card together, I thought that maybe the largest scalloped heart from Unity’s Dashes and Frills Hearts die set would work to layer behind my image heart. It works perfectly as a layering heart. I cut the scalloped heart out of a piece of 6 x 6 paper from Mintay Papers “Always and Forever” paper set. And of course I forgot to grab a picture of the scalloped heart before I glued our lovely couple’s heart on top of it, so the layered hearts picture will have to do.

I let things sit for a few hours while I worked on coloring some other images and put together a few other cards. During this time I decided the card was going to need some kind of background. I searched through my stamp database for my love inspired background stamps, particularly focusing on word backgrounds. I then literally dug through my background stamps to find the stamps the database search had revealed. I found several and decided on Unity’s “Love Me Always Background.” I used my MISTI stamp platform and stamped it in VersaFine Clair pigment ink in “Morning Mist.” Using my stamp platform, I was able to stamp it a second time in order to get great coverage over the large stamp.

I chose a soft pink, top folding card base. I stamped a sentiment from Unity’s “A Day to Treasure” stamp set on the inside.

I glued the background image to the card base, and then popped the layered hearts up with foam tape for a little interest and dimension.

This is a pretty simple card, but I think it turned out very sweet and will make a great wedding card the next time I need one.

Be sure to leave a comment for a chance to win one of two gifts from Unity that I have to give away this week. Each gift is $20 in store credit on the Unity Stamp Company website. I will be drawing two names using a random picker at the end of the week from those who comment.

  1. Lovely card. I have used this stamp many times and will use wedding colors for flowers, if I know them. I like the heart die. I will use that n cut time.

  2. This turned out so very pretty! Love the way you colored the skin. And the BG text paper is perfection!

  3. This is a great card! I love it. The heart also gives an option of personalizing it with the couples initials and date.
