This month I decided that sketches are like speed limit signs . . . merely a suggested guideline. I took this month’s sketch and really made it my own.
As usually, I found this sketch on Pinterest. I am not sure where it originated, but I found it interesting when I chose it for the group. I can’t wait to see how each swapper interprets it.
I chose “nature” as my style for this sketch and “winter” as my theme. I went to my paper closet first and chose a “blizzard” from a winter paper pack in my stash. I love Michael’s “hot buy” cardstock packs and have a ton of them.
After cutting my background blizzards, I decided that instead of diamond shapes this winter card needs snowflakes. I went to my die stash and pulled out my Tim Holtz Paper Snowflakes, Mini set from Sizzix. I chose snowflakes of various sizes and cut them out of the iridescent and holographic papers from the Sizzix Surfacez Opulent Mystical Collection Cardstock Pack.
I added some silver with white polka dots washi tape from my vast washi tape stash for my vertical element. I did my best to get them lined up straight, but . . . well, you know . . . it’s handmade.
I used the small banner die from Gina K Designs Master Layouts 3 to die cut my sentiment strip and then stamped “winter” and “blessings” from Gina K Designs “Beautiful Forest” set in Versafine Clair Blue Belle ink.
I glued the snowflakes and the sentiment strip to the card front and viola . . . a finished card.
