Growing in Unity – Day 3

(Simply Swap It – September 2022)

Here I go again maximizing my blogging. I’m getting a jump on my September swap cards. This swap round we are starting with card sketches that I found on Pinterest rather than everyone picking a technique for everyone to use each month. To take things up a notch, we also have to pick a style for the card and then also a theme. The sketch for September is from Paper Play Sketches. The style I chose is “single color” and I chose “thinking of you” as my theme.

For this thinking of you card, I chose Unity Stamp Company’s Winnie the Pooh: The Smallest Things set and coordinating die. I stamped the images out in VersaFine Clair ink in Pinecone and then colored them with Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils.

Colors for Pooh are Mineral Orange, Goldenrod, and Yellow Ochre

I chose various cardstock and patterned papers from my stash in shades of yellow and then started layering the papers on a kraft card base.

For the paper layers, I used the following dimensions: 4 x 5 1/4 for the back layer; 2 x 3 for the top flower piece; 2 1/4 x 3 for the bottom purple flower piece; 1 x 4 for the strip daisy piece; 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 for the top yellow marbled piece.

I glued Pooh down to the yellow marbled piece, and popped the butterfly up with foam tape for a little dimension.

I stamped one of the sentiments from The Smallest Things on the inside to finish off the cards.
